I'm running a half marathon next Saturday which is 6 weeks out from my goal marathon so I will be using this race to judge where my fitness currently is and to have a proper goal marathon pace in mind. However, I do plan on racing this half marathon pretty hard hoping to go sub - 1:25 maybe even sub - 1:24, my current PR is 1:26:23.
I'm 19 and I've been running roughly around 80 mpw the last 6 weeks all in singles with a tempo and long run each week. The longest tempo I have done at goal HM pace (~6:28) was 6.7 miles which went very well, could have kept going but glad it was done. My long runs are generally about 18 miles and are run at about 7:30 - 7:40 min/mile pace. The rest of my runs (usually 11-13 miles in length) are at about 7:40ish pace on average but they can range from 8:15 down to 7:15 depending on how I feel, sometimes faster if I'm feeling good.
I plan on doing a little mini-taper for the race, take it very lightly the two days before it. The course is mainly flat with a slight uphill at mile 7 and downhill at mile 10. Weather looks like it'll be around 35 degrees at the start. So based on my training, what time do you think I should aim for on this half?
