I was just wondering what people would think. Obviously Hall and Meb, but whom would you take for the other eight?

In no particular order (OK, alphabetical order):
Arciniaga
Gotcher
Hall
Hartmann
Keflezighi
Lehmkuhle
Reyes
Ritzenhein
Torres
Young
Honorable mentions / up-and-comers: Eggleston, Nelson, Sayenko, Vega. Tough to leave Abdi off, but it's been too long since he had a good one. I'm reluctant to list anybody who's only raced one marathon, but Gotcher's debut was too good to leave him off. Picked Lehmkuhle over Vega for the last spot.
Already feel like I was wrong choosing Jorge over three of the four I left off. He and Nelson probably have the highest "ceilings" of any of the guys on the bubble, is the point in their favor.

Lehmkuhle's racing 30k in Japan this weekend.
Not sure if Aish is officially American or not, but don't forget about him. Top 3 for us come 2012.
Rizzo should be ahead of Torres and Young.

Why do you think so? He has a 2:15 and a 2:16 to his credit, while Torres and Young each have one 2:13 and one 2:14.
thanks for your reply bobby. I was curious whether people would put Sayenko in the top ten. I guess the answer is 'close, but not quite.'

Thought I would bump this for more discussion.
Re: TFN's ratings: I can understand Vega over Young, that was a tough decision for me too. But how do they leave Jason Hartmann off their lists after his 2:11 in Chicago? That was an impressive performance.
Other questions:
Will any of these guys not run another marathon until the Trials?
How many of them will attempt a fall marathon with a quick turnaround for Houston, like Meb is apparently considering?
Is there any reason other than money for a runner with a legit shot at an Olympic team to run a fall 2011 marathon?
Chicago to Houston: 14 weeks
NYC to Houston: 10 weeks
^Or an American could do the one and only major I don't think any American would ever really consider, Berlin. Than that's 17 weeks out
In the LetsRun tradition of looking at qualifying times, we'd have
Ryan Hall
Meb Keflezighi
Dathan Ritzenhein
Brett Gotcher
Jason Hartmann
Nick Arciniaga
Jason Lehmkuhle
Jorge Torres
Antonio Vega
Josh Cox
With the next 5 as
Abdi Abdirahman
Sergio Reyes
Justin Young
Jeff Eggleston
Mike Sayenko
How can you leave Joseph Chirlee (2:12 marathon) off the list of at least honorable mentions.

I just took names in order from the USATF marathon trials qualified list so the criteria here is simply fastest times run since the qualifying window opened:
http://www.usatf.org/events/2012/OlympicTrials-Marathon/entry/entryMen/eligible.aspI understand that Chirlee will be eligible to run in London so he will be allowed to compete in the trials and already has a half marathon qualifier. That said, his 2:12 is from 2007 and he doesn't have a performance since then that puts him anywhere near the current top 10.
No Carney?
Carney's a great road racer up to the half marathon, but it's beginning to look like 26.2 is a bridge too far for him. Same with Bizuneh.
Ryan Hall-----??? See how the God coaching works
Meb Keflezighi ??? See if he decides to race in the fall
Dathan Ritzenh.ein--??? Can he remain healthy?
Brett Gotcher---??? May of just been beginners luck
Jason Hartmann---Love that fact that he seems to be getting better
Nick Arciniaga--Looked great in Houston
Jason Lehmkuhle--Always consistent
Jorge Torres--He is heading the wrong way
Antonio Vega -- Still isn't healthy
Josh Cox --More into self promotion
With the next 5 as
Abdi Abdirahman --Too Old
Sergio Reyes --Possible dark horse
Justin Young --Doesn't even have the Olympic A
Jeff Eggleston -- Could be a dark horse
Mike Sayenko--Ran great when others folded in Chicago
I have never seen a mens field this wide open
That's a coincidence
Their times are exactly tame as the bottom 10 Kenyan's
Anybody know if Mo Trafeh is considering running a marathon anytime soon?
