I've been away from cable for a long time. I passed by MTV a few times and it just doesn't seem to do anything music related anymore.

You really have been away from cable for a long time if you're just finding this out!

I'd guess it's been this way for maybe 5-10 years. Sorry I can't be more precise, I didn't have cable myself for a while in the late 1990s/ealrs 2000s and haven't ever been an avid MTV viewer anyway.
