Seeds are up for Terrier Invite this weekend

After a quick glance through, most notable thing to me seemed to be that a few guys on Quinnipiac's XC team are running as "Title IX"

That's amazing, i support them 100%, if they start a running club, i'll donate to it.

Fox, Michael Ghetto Fabulous
This can't be real considering some St. Lawrence runner has the same name.
He is one of my finer constituents from the great state of NJ. No relation to the SLU kid. 1:50 guy, not sure if he has ever run sub 150, but may have.
Once again I see that several people are seeding themselves much faster than what they are capable of running. 30 seconds faster than their pr for 5K. You've got to be kidding me.
Does anyone have a link to that spreadsheet someone compiled from a few years ago? It showed seed time versus actual race time and the time differential between the two. I believe it focused solely on 3k and 5k times.
You could really see who the biggest offenders were, and which schools always over (or under) seeded their athletes.
Maybe that was for the Valentine's Meet instead?
I saw them at yale. they have singlets with "XI" written across them and one guy had a matching headband. I thought it was cool.

What the hell is Title Eleven?
Has anyone seen BU's Terence Galasso is running the 5k and his twin brother Aidan is running the 3k. Rumor is they are both trying to win their events. Watch out for these two they have cheetah-like speed.

I bet it was worse this year since they implemented cutoff times of 8:45 for 3k and 15:00 for 5k. If I were a 15:15 guy I would probably lie to get into the meet. 15:30 probably not...
they didnt implement those times. i seeded myself slower than 8:45 and im still in with many people after me
Oh maybe that is Valentine I'm thinking of

Yeah, I thought it was both meets, as well, but it looks like the cut-offs are (hopefully) being used for the Valentine's meet:
"*The fields for the Valentine Invitational will be limited to eight heats for the 3K (top 105 performers) and four heats for the 5K (top 72 performers), using cut off performance ranges of 8:45 for the 3K and 15:00 for the 5K."
There are plenty of guys slower than 15flat for 5k (15-16min types) who raced at these BU terrier and valentine meets last year. So Are they saying they are kicked out of the meet this year? Guess ill have to overseed the sht outta myself.

It could be that they're just capping the fields at 105 for the 3K, and 72 for the 5K, and that they're just sort of anticipating cutoffs of 8:45 and 15:00, respectively.
105th place for 3K
2007: 8:56 (165 total finishers)
2008: 9:04 (156 total finishers)
2009: 8:56 (123 total finishers)
2010: 8:55 (186 total finishers)
72nd place for the 5K
2007: 15:57 (83 total finishers)
2008: 15:12 (164 total finishers)
2009: 15:52 (90 total finishers)
2010: 15:56 (94 total finishers)
Yes, they are saying the 15-16 min types are out. There were 11 heats of the 3k and 6 heats of the 5k last year. See here:
http://lancertiming.com/results/winter10/BU_Valentine/index.htm
You figure 10 minutes per 3k heat (including time between heats) and 17 minutes per 5k heat (again, including 1-2 minutes between heats), and that's 3.5 hrs of distance running. This year if they limit entry to 105 3k runners, that's about 6 heats (17-18 people per heat), and 72 5k runners is 4 heats (with 18 people per heat). Now it is closer to 2 hrs of distance running.
Even if my numbers are off, you get the point. They are trying to move the meet along.

I think this is a great idea. They must make a TON of cash off of the 3 mini/all-comers meets in December/early January. I like that they're trying to make the Valentine's meet at least a bit more exclusive.
It'd be a lot better if we could see how the heats were broken up or the times the people seeded themselves at. this is just an entry list
Don't worry everyone Aidan Galasso is good for a 7:58 3k and Terence is good for at least a 14:25 5k
According to direct athletics, which I know doesn't have 100% of the results, here are the PRs of some people seeded around me at 1455. I think anyone in the 845 range is looking at breaking 15 so it isn't that bad unless you get stuck as one of the top seeds in a heat. However, certain schools, like Rider (with 3/4 of the guys over 8:50), seem to have an awful lot of confidence that their runners are about to have major breakthroughs.
