Though wealthier families will be able to afford superior schools, the economy will be so productive that even families below the average household income will be able to send their kids to school, if they want to do so. Kids who aren't cut out for school will be allowed (and indeed expected) to work, and this will be understood to be a good thing rather than a bad thing. College will generally be reserved for the best and brightest, with a smaller percentage of the population attending. At the same time, a college degree will not be required for most jobs. There will be no licensure requirements for any profession, the barriers to entry will be lower and more rational. All in all society will be much more educated and productive than it is now. Kids will learn in history classes that government interference in the economy caused the Great Depression of 2012-2030, as well as the Mild Depression of the 1920s.
