Carlos is hiking near the Circular Fores, a forest in the shape of a perfect circle. The forest has a radium of 12 km. Carlos begins hiking from a point 11 kn WEST and 9 kn SOUTH of the center of the forest. He begins hiking DUE EAST, by when he reaches the edge of the forest, he turns and hikes NORTH. HE hikes NORTH for 6km, then turns and hikes WEST until he leaves the forest.
Carlos hikes at a constant 3km per hour. How much time did he spend in the forest?
_____
The answer given in the book is 3.22 hours. This cannot be.
Fact #1: Moving at 3km/hr, if the total time is 3.22 hours, the total distance cannot be more than 9.66 km. Right?
Fact #2: assuming that the center of the circle is point (0, 0), Carlos starts at point (-11, -9). This would mean the distance is 11 km JUST TO REACH THE FUCKING Y-AXIS. Sow how can the total distance be 9.66km?
Balls.
