Lets get to the bottom of the debate on whether Cross Training for Healthy Elite runners is effective and worthwhile: A. Do they incorporate XT in their training schedules (even when healthy) B. Do they utilize cycling to any extent? C. When would be the best time to incorporate cycling in training?
Research shows Cycling is of some benefit to runners.
Hypothetical Schedule:
Mon - AM: Easy PM: Easy + hill sprints
Tue - AM Intervals PM: Recovery run
Wed- AM: Recovery run PM: High Intensity Bike?
Thurs - AM: Easy PM: Easy + strides
Friday - AM: Tempo Run PM: Recovery run
Saturday AM: Recovery PM: Easy
Sunday AM: Long Run
Mon - AM: Active Recovery bike PM: Rest
Any opinions from Elites or Coaches or people with experience utilizing XT in addition to normal training while healthy would be appreciated.
