I'm a college freshman (just turn 19yrs old).I'm looking to run these fast times to give me confidence for next year and possibly make it to the "big event." My prs hold as now of 1:55, 4:21mile, and 15:27. My quarter pr is 51 seconds(two years ago), but now I've been in a phase of two-a-days 6days a week.
Does this looks good:
Mon:4miles easy am; 6miles+mobility pm
Tues: 4miles am; fartlek (20min hard effort)+hard weights(after night class) or 20min hard stationery bike
Wed: 4miles easy am: 7miles+mobility pm
Thurs: 4miles am; 2x10x200s @28 (haven't done this yet), and +hard weights+mobility
Fri: 4miles easy am; 6miles+mobility pm
Sat: 4miles am; 6miles+ 2x500x400x300x200x100 +mobility
Sun: 10-12miles very easy (I'm thinking about taking this out pretty soon) Total:70mpw
I'm a sole believer in Peter Coe's book Winnning Running in which he says: "If speed is the name of the game then never get to far away from it"
So, My am runs that I didn't list easy are run under 6:30 pace, but I'm also not surprised either on how my recovery process has been going (I've been using relaxation/meditation+manifesting techniques and they seem to work). I also been doing 25-30min dynamic warm-up before each run also.
I need help on trying to fit in some circuit/plyometric training sessions in there (I haven't done any all year, so should I wait til next year?)
Hopefully I can race against the guys on the team around late April.
Give me some insight on how my training should look in FEB-APR
Thanks guys
