This is often the last "goal pace" workout before goal race. How good of a "predictor" is it? How should it feel?
In my case (I did 6 x 1k b/c the race will be 4 mile) the first 3 reps were fine, not hard, within +/- 1 second of target, fourth was 4 seconds slower (uphill), fifth was 2 seconds too slow, but I sort of died on the final 6th rep. I ran it 8 seconds per mile too slow.
In short my pace was 6:26/6:25/6:27/6:30/6:28/6:34 for the reps with 1 minute slow jog in between. My goal pace for the race is/was 6:26 but now I'm not too sure. Will 1) the magic adrenaline rush of the race and 2) tapering make a difference and allow to maintain pace?
Or should 5 x 1k at goal pace w/ 1' rest be ridiculously easy if ready for that pace?
