I've searched the knee pain threads on the board and couldn't find any that matched my symptoms...does anyone know what this could be?
I've been running more mileage than I have in a while...recently due to snowstorms/lack of testicular fortitude I've been splitting my runs between the treadmill and the roads. I started somewhat gradually to feel a dull pain in my knee. The pain feels like it is "under" the knee cap (not towards the shin, but "inside" the knee). It doesn't hurt at all to touch, sometimes walking around it'll hurt when I step the wrong way. It almost feels like a dull pain in the "funny bone." Every once in a while on a run I'll step on it the wrong way and there will be a quick shooting pain very suddenly that is then completely gone by the next step. It has started to hurt when i flex the knee...for instance when I sitt in a chair and try to straight my leg out lifting my shin and foot toward the body...this is when the pain is the greatest. I could be wrong but this doesn't really seem to match up with patellar tendonitis or a torn meniscus...does anyone have an idea what it could be?
