I'm starting to lose it. I live just outside a majorish city and we've had tons of snow- the roads are mostly cleared, but the snowbanks are piled high at the end of every driveway and on every corner, and the sidewalks in the neighborhoods remain mostly snow-covered.
This situation has made it nearly impossible for me to run for the last week and a half. I go out at 6:30 AM and it feels like I'm taking my life in my own hands. I wear tons of reflective gear, but commuters don't see me behind all the snow, and the roads are so narrow that it's very hard for me to stay out of their ways. I end up having to run very slowly to avoid them.
To add to the issues, it's snowed or iced almost every day for a week and a half, so the footing on the roads has been poor a good deal of the time. I'm starting to have an OCD-type vision of myself running along the side of the road, slipping on some ice, and sliding into the path of an oncoming car.
Yes, this is a very minor, temporary issue in the grand scheme of life, but I work at a desk all day, and without a good run in the morning, I start to get very, very antsy at work.
Anyone else with similar problems or suggestions? If it doesn't get better I'm going to have to start shelling out $10/run to use the treadmill at the nearby YMCA or go snowshoeing in the nearby park, which would be fine, but going to the park alone, in the semi-dark, doesn't seem like a good idea to me.
