I still haven't actually done a triathlon, but I am going to start racing them this summer.
So, I'm 30 now and getting a little burned out on just running. Two years ago I started swimming some to heal from an injury. When I got healthy I still swam once a week because I liked the cross training value. Last summer I felt totally burned out after racing really hard for about 18 months. So in September I took a whole month off from running again and swam almost every day. In Oct and Nov I started running again but never really got it going again. I was just not motivated to do it. So just before Thanksgiving I started a spin class and kept swimming.
Well now I'm hooked on biking and swimming. I just bought a bike and an indoor trainer, and I am riding like mad in my basement for now (it's very cold where I live). I'm also running again 3 times a week. I really like the variety of doing three things.
I never thought this would happen to me. I made fun of triathletes, and I still find all the gear and accoutrements somewhat gay. But I like the way it feels more than anything.
So, there it is. Sorry if I betrayed the Letsrun faithful. I feel sort of guilty and ashamed.
