I pronate mildly and really enjoyed the feel of the Brooks Adrenaline when tried on in a store and jogged around.
I have heard these shoes are MAX support though and are focused towards moderate to severe overpronators.
Could the Adrenaline be used for mild pronators without a problem, or would it be better to look for a somewhat less supportive shoe?
(Also just a random side question, what would happen if a neutral runner used the Adrenaline)
I am a mild to moderate pronator and I used to use the Asics 2100s series for the longest time. I switched to the Adrenalines this past time and really enjoy the feel of them. Nothing has happened as far as blisters or injuries so I think you'll be fine using them.
If you're a mild to moderate pronator I'd probably go with something that offers slightly less support than the Adrenaline. The Asics 2100 series would be an option- perhaps check out the Adidas Supernova Sequence, the Saucony Guide or even, by Brooks, the Ravenna.
A neutral runner running in such a supportive shoe has much greater potential for injury because the posted midsole would cause you to "ride" the outside of your foot...i.e. not good for knees, hips, etc.
What Mizuno options are equivalent?
It all depends on how much you actually pronate. If you are closer to neutral, I would suggest the switch rather than the Adrenaline, and also the Ravenna because the Ravenna is a little minimal in my opinion. It also shoves you to the forefoot a tad. If you are closer to flat footed, then the Adrenaline would be a good shoe due to how solid the heal is, as well as the medial post.
A neutral runner will get IT band issues big time in the Adrenaline due to all the pressure on the lateral side of the legs. The Adrenaline is stiffer than a lot of people think.
The Inspire is the Mizuno equivalent, but the Inspire is less support than the Adrenaline.
So Adrenaline would be okay for mild-severe, correct?
You would be fine.
Agreed - 2100 series would be good for Asics. Mizuno Wave Inspire would also be good. The Nike Structure is in the same category, and the Adrenaline might have some more support than the other shoes mentioned. If you can wear a Ravenna or NB 870 and get enough support, wear them instead.

"Guidance" is a term Brooks uses for not quite stability. If you are a severe over pronator, you will cripple yourself in the Ravenna
