There are probably squillions of runners all over the world, but everyone is different, has its own targets and approaches towards training...
What are you thinking about while training?
Or: What makes you running every single day?

training harder than anyone else, running faster than anyone else.
I run because I just like running.
Being the best. Destroying the opposition.
I just love running more than any other activity that I have ever engaged in.
What can I say? Plain and simple- I'm addicted.
As to what I think about- it all depends on the day. Sometimes I space out, look at the watch and realize 45 minutes have gone by, other times I focus on the workout and sometimes I just work things out in my head
The feeling you get when you PR is amazing.

This...most days I want to forget why I'm running. I suppose I fit some stereotypes there, and I'm sure I do, but I love to run.
I hate running now. But let me tell you in high school, track season was the best time of my life.
I haven't done a hard workout with anyone else in three years. In that time I've done about five distance runs when I wasn't by myself. I have drifted apart from my best friends who were on the team.
Trying to train for some stupid road race is nothing like the feeling of running away from the competition in a HS 800m.
I am more passionate about running than any other activity that creates structure in my life. I'm pretty good, so the positive reinforement from both success and endorphins feels good.
To leave my opponents crushed and melted on the side of the track.
I just wanna look better NAKED.
You forgot about sex.

ssssshhhhh. He doesn't know about about sex.
to race. to rank. To be able to justify to myself buying all this gear. I love running shoes, I love the gadgets and gizmos. Hate to say this, but I wanna try the Alt-G dreadmill that Ritz is using. What the heck is that thing? You don't feel gravity or something? An underwater treadmill?
In addition to everything everyone else has said, for me it comes down to this: I feel most like myself while running.
