I've recently gotten over a sickness that kept me running. The D3 Indoor season is already under way and I am so far behind. Granted, I have months to catch up, but I wanna know how long I should have base training before I try to race?
Thanks

You can race as sson as you want as long as you don't mind running slow times.
Seeing that you are a college athlete, you should have a general idea of when you are ready to race. Do a few tough workouts, and when you are feeling strong (doesnt necessarily mean you will be running as fast as you usually do) throw yourself in a race. Yeah, your first one will probably be ugly, but its best to get back into racing as quickly as possible so you don't lose the drive to keep working hard. A tough race will make you train harder in order to feel that sense of accomplishment you get from a good race again. However, no one will really be able to tell you that you are ready to race from the internet. Probably should just listen to your coach. Hopefully he/she knows what they are doing, and will bring you back at the right time. Good luck with indoor. Hope everything turns out alright.
