I really need help on this one. I love to run and am smart about it, increasing mileage by 5 every 3 weeks. I'm scheduled for 58 this week and 63 next week. The problem is that I am literally always injured. It's a perpetual occurance and sucks so bad.
Today I tried to run and my knee hurt so bad that after 200m I turned around and hobbled back practically crying both from the pain and the frustration because I had to take off 4 days(Thurs, fri, sat, sun) because I pulled my hamstring in a NRR incident.
My knees have hurt since August, and got a lot worse in october when I got tendonitis in my left knee.
So my questions are:
What might be wrong with my knee? The upper inside part of my tibia hurts horribly when I run, but not at all when I walk and barely when I go up stairs. I think the reason this happened was because I changed my form a little to compensate for my hamstring still being really stiff.
What can I do to help my knee?
How long will it take to recover?
How far will this set me back? I am really scared about this. I absolutely need to run my best in late may/early june. If I take off a week now that will put me back a few weeks won't it? Then its the week I missed plus the fitness I lost which will take a few weeks to get back as well. So then I'm like 4 weeks behind schedule.
How should I build back up if I take off for some time?If im already taking a week off and then need
What is wrong with me? Why am I always injured? I don't do anything stupid. Not tons of speed work. I'm just building a base atm and was doing 1 tempo per week until I hurt my hamstring.
More background:
Ran a 15:51 xc season on a legit 5k course.
Ran past 4 weeks 50 mpw the first 3 and 55 the last one.
Ran 50 mpw in the summer.
Ran 40 mpw in xc. Took a full week off after xc to help my tendonitis which didn't actually do anything.
Trying to hit 4 weeks of 70mpw before track starts 2nd week in march, then 60mpw for the season until late May.
Runs are almost all on the roads, its too icy and snowy to run on grass or anything, tracks hurt my knees, and no trails are near. Started tryig nto get in 60% of my mileage on grass, but it snowed so that stopepd after only 1 week of it.
Please help! I am really lost and desperately need to find some way to solve this problem so I can actually run.
