Regarding elite, or prospective elite 800 runners, can a direct correlation be made between 600 ability and 800 ability?
In other words, is it possible for anyone who can run 1:16 to run a 1:45?

Obviously no. Some 400m specialists could probably hang on for a decent 600m, but I doubt any could hang on for 800m without a lot of 800m specific training.
1000 might be better. an 800 is best.
Haha, obviously an actual 800 would be best. Maybe I should rephrase the question suchly:
Could any 1:16 600m runner attempt an elite-level 800m, without altering training?
In other words, do they already have the tools necessary for being an 800 runner?
