Ok I saw this story on CNN about Chinese Students coming to America...

We've seen a million student from PRC here in California for decades. Same story. If the can't get into Japanese Universities, the US is the 2nd choice for the children of Communist Party members and engineer/science students. The US is the 1st choice for most peasants and Taiwaners.

Yup. You can tell the Party kids. They drive brand new Mercedes-Benzes and dress in Issey Miyake fashions. Chinese know who they are. They hate the communists but have to keep their mouths shut else they will be assassinated by China in the Bay Area like Harry Wu was.

Anyhow, this girl must be absolutely loaded by Chinese standards, the Calhoun School has a tuition of $40k/yr, and then she went to Barnard.

I'm not sure what the point of the article is.

I went to a State University with over 1/3rd(a number they always tried to play down or lie about) of its student body Asian. A good portion were either native Chinese, Indians or South Koreans. I never saw them in social sciences and humanities classes. Most if not all take science or engineering related degrees.

They generally don't intermix culturally. The school offered a lot of Asian related extra-curriculars. They generally chose to live in the same area on campus, keeping a tight community. It always felt weird riding in an elevator with a handful of Chinese students, speaking Mandarin.

It was a wet dream for the white guy Asian chasers.

Except that Seung-Hui Cho (celebrated marty to the Tea Party, and hero to the 2nd Amendment short dicks) is from suburban DC, Virgina specifically.

Interestingly, asian americans are only 2-3 IQ points higher than american kids on average (115 v. 118 I think) but occupy much more of the upper echelon job market (doctors, lawyers, etc). In a book called "Emotional Intelligence" the author attributes this to the cultural differences in attitudes. Where american children's parents will try to understand that their child's strengths may not lie in math of science and push them to their strengths, asian parents tend to push them harder in those subjects they are lacking skill in until they get it.

This does however, some with a level of consequence. American kids are more likely to think creatively and come up with ideas and solutions, which is beneficial in the upper management of companies (look at google company culture- not asian at all). There was a great NY times article about shanghai schools and this issue a few weeks ago. Hard to say which is better. For society, I go with the asian attitude. For individualism, I go with the american attitude. Overall, scandinavia trumps all else with its combination of both. They have the best schools and academic performance in the world, as well as highest quality of life.

the private school I work at is now targeting students from China because there are so many that can not make it into colleges there. We might also be opening a school in China which would allow the students to go back and forth while still getting a diploma from a United States school and go to college here. We just recently got a student whose family is in the top percent of wealthiest in China and sent him here to learn English so he can help run their International family owned business.

you lost me here. Average iq is 100. that is the point of the iq test, its standardized with a mean of 100. Learn something b4 you post.

China has 50% Functional Illiteracy. The place sucks.

How do you figure the shooter is a martyr (I assume that is what you meant) for the Tea Party? I do not know a single 2nd Amendment proponent that condones what the Cho did.

The more nerdy Chinese and Taiwanese girls we get in the USA the better... I am moving back to Reno next year, and I plan to take some classes at UNR.
