I have just been rejected for the 4th time for a credit card... once from Target. I am three years out of college, have paid off all my loans, and have just south of 30K in the bank. Yet, all these credit card companies are turning me down for not having had other credit cards, perpetuating the cycle that one needs to have a credit card to get a credit card. And in American society, apparently, it's hard to get a lot of things (a mortgage) without establishing a ton of credit...which is F'ed up.
I guess in America, we need to go into debt in order to get credit. I'm all for the "Pay everything in cash" method and never ask for money. Unfortunately, I hardly believe I'll ever be in the boat to pay for more education/house without getting a credit card first. My own bank that I've banked with for 8-9 years even turned me down
I'm tired of this BS. I want to do something about it, but feel as if I am continually silenced. Anybody else have this same problem? Any ideas?
