How long should I wait to potentially pull the trigger on buying some stock? I'm far from an expert in this field and we may have to wait until we hear more about Jobs' health first but was curious what others thought.

Now is not the time to buy. Should he die, the stock goes kablooey.
wow Flag that's two thread-kills in one day
like anybody is going to listen to someone who says "kablooey"
Without Jobs, Ballmer at MS might stand a chance of keeping his business model working, for longer than it should.
Most of the experts still have it down as a "BUY". I've had it since it was $115, so I can't complain. I don't plan on selling anytime in the near future.
Jobs' replacement during the previous leave did a tremendous job and improved many behind-the-scenes areas of the company during his tenure. Don't think for a second that Apple will suddenly change their business model or philosophies if Jobs is gone. He's smart enough to have installed his proteges in critical positions. They know his vision and how to execute it.
With yesterday's plunge, this is the perfect day to buy. Earnings reports should be strong after the bell today, and there is no reason to think that this stock won't be at 355 in a month or two.

Why would Jobs even care?
I mean, why would you care about what happens to a corporation after you are dead?

Men of Steve Jobs stature DO care about legacy.
Just released earnings:
Revenue: $26.74 vs. $24.4 billion consensus, $25.5 billion "high" Street estimate
EPS: $6.43 vs. $5.38 consensus, $6.02 "high" Street estimate
iPhone shipments: 16.24 million vs. 15.5 million consensus
iPad shipments: 7.33 million vs. 6.2 million consensus
Mac shipments: 4.1 million vs. 4.3 million consensus
iPod shipments: 19.45 million vs. 20.3 million consensus
Wowza!
I have it (since June 2009).
From my stock screener:
Market 320.96B
P/E = 23.00
PEG = 1.22
EPS Growth 1 year: 66.91%
EPS Growth 5 years: 57.78%
predicted EPS growth next 5 years: 18.91%
The case can be made that the whole market it somewhat overvalued at present (bull/bear ratio very high), but if you hold long enough, you don't need to worry about that. If you're not planning to hold over 1 year, I'd wait for a pullback. I might wait 4-6 weeks only for short term opportunity.
Cramer just upped his price target on it to $400, which he said was conservative. Take AAPL to the bank!
AAPL is up 300% in the last 2 years, and the P/E is still 22.
I dare you to sell it short.

And you shouldn't especially if you're in it for the long term investment.
