So, I've worked out for 20 years. I did 2 half marathons 9 years ago. I started running again last July and completed my first Sprint Tri in october. When I first started running my heart rate was in the 190 range. I figured it was because I hadn't run in 9 years. I had a treadmill test and echo which were normal although the doctor said my heart looked like someone who just got off the couch (even tho I just did a tri). I was/am very breathless.
I went to a endocrinologist because years ago I was dx with PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). He did some labs and the following was found:
TSH 3.19
Free T4 1.0
High cortisol
High norepinephrine
Low female free testosterone.
Doctor gave me some levoxyl and I'm going off birth control pills.
My question is that my runs are TERRIBLE. I am jogging so slow and I have to keep stopping every 4 minutes because my heart rate continues to climb on flat terrain to 187-190. I am so uncomfortable.
Could this be related to subclinical hypo? Insulin resistance? Testosterone?
The first 10 minutes of a run are ok, but I've never been able to carry on a conversation. I am struggling through every one and getting discouraged.
