I was in the same position as you about a year ago.
Graduated, couldn't find a job and sat around all day. I was a very good D1 runner, but got completely out of shape during that period and was not productive.
I ended up going to grad school. This helped my self esteem go up and during the past year I got my running back on track and am in the best shape I've ever been in.
I've gotten a better idea of what I want out of life for the next few years. And if I have trouble finding a job, I have a few back up plans that I will execute.
I think it takes some people longer to figure out what they want, I know that was the case for me.
As for training, just get out there. Enter a few races and get your ass kicked (that's what I did).
If you don't want to go to grad school, I would look into teaching overseas or something like that. Hope this helped.
