I'm a high school senior rower. I am constantly injured so my times are all terrible, and because of that I could not row even at the least sporty D1 schools like the Ivy League, where I might well end up going for academic reasons.
I love rowing and I love working out and most of all I love being a part of a team. Our school (on the west coast) has no cross country team, but we have a Concept2 erg machine and I've found that I really enjoy running and I think I'd enjoy it more on real trails. So I'm considering switching over to that as a possibility for college if I end up at a D1 school where I couldn't row because of all of my injuries. I could be part of the team, then go back to trying to row after college. If I end up somewhere D3 I'd just row probably however fast I can.
Anyone here tried something like this? How'd it go? What kind of times would I look for on the erg to see if I had talent?
