From a contact at the meet director's office. If this happens, I fear letsrun.com might explode! :)

Hardly a "dream field". Galen is head and shoulders above everyone else listed....Lukas V would be 1/2 a lap down even if he PRs, and Fam...well Fam would lead the first 3 laps then dissapear completely.
That's not all in the same race is it?
If so, Rupp goes 8:11, German goes 8:20, and Lukas goes 8:39. Fam either finishes between between Rupp and German or doesn't finish at all. He does lead at some point early in the second mile.
There's no real race here. Just a bunch of stars, at different levels, running completely different races at completely different paces.
A pro star vs. a collegiate star vs. a high school star. This isn't the 1960s. They're not on the same level.

Agreed. Fam ran 8:17 for the steeple just 2 years ago. Let's not pretend he doesn't belong.
German has been under the radar all year, and everyone on this board has been whining about him showing up to race. Well, here it is.
Lukas V. is obviously trying to make a 2-mile statement a la Alan Webb in his high school mile.
Rupp is...well...Rupp.
This race is definitely compelling, and all of the players are LRC Message Board favorites to either criticize or praise. Looking forward to the lead up for sure, I hope this comes together!
Fam will lead for 6 laps, then just as he's falling off the pace considerably, will steeple the railing and continue right out of the the Garden!
Right, Rupp runs 4 seconds off the American outdoor record on Millrose's track.
All you jokers got to be kidding me. GF will follow the slow pace and blow by everyone in the final lap. Nobody has speed in the field except GF. The Fam guy always likes to lead every race, but then blows up at the end. German will be savoring at the mouth when the bell lap comes a round.
By the way i predict 8:27 with negative splits.
This is exciting to see Fernandez make a return to the 2 mile. Verzbicas will probably be chasing Gerry Lindgren's 8:40. I doubt he will get it but he'll probably go after it.
That sounds like a dream field for the race director. They might not all be at the same level, but to just have those names on the list is certainly impressive.
Yeah but why do they have so many boring filler races today. It's not like the old M Games.
If this is legit - you can bet Lukas is signing with OK State. I wouldn't be surprised if German is being asked to recruit him. His sheer celebrity should be enough to win over Lukas.
I met Fam in Peoria during the Illinois State Cross Country meet weekend. He's not too bright, and is very cocky. No wonder he leads every race he's in.
What happens in the State of Oregon if German wins?
But, yes, it does appear that Lukas has decided on OSU so he doesn't have to bother with going to class.
Do they all know how slow the Madison Square Garden track is?

Or maybe Tennesee... or maybe somewhere in Ethiopia or Kenyan if an East African joins the race..
But why so many filler races now. 3 out of 4 races are boring HS, local college, and fat pig races. That sucks !

I'm sure Lagat does, but that doesn't keep him from going for one more Wannamaker.
I don't see Lukas taking out Gerry's record, but the real question is what shape is German in? If he's getting close to 3:55i shape, it could be interesting.
They also know it's televised and in front of a large crowd. Going to U.Washington would be so much more exciting.
Could it be? Are we witnessing the return of the Germanator as we know it?
