hey, i am a college student/recreational runner and run around 40mpw. I have run higher mileage in the past peaking out around 70mpw in high school. I have been steadily training for about 3-4 months now since taking signifigant time off after high school. The last week of my christmas break i had not run at all as i got lazy from the holidays and was having some fun with all my friends. In my first week back I ran Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday for 30 minutes, thursday i did 40 minutes on a trail that was covered in 3 inches of snow... and the following day noticed my lateral right hip was sore. Friday it was a little sore/tight prior to running and i ran for 41 minutes on the road, hip bothering me a little bit more towards the end. By the time i drove home from my Rec Center, I was limping a little bit and having a hard time on stairs and just standing. I have taken the days off since then off and am trying to figure out what my problem is. I still cannot jog without a sharp pain upon footstrike of the right foot(right hip) of jump, squat on one leg. The pain feels localized right around where my greater and lesser trachnater's are ( bumps on the upper femur around hip attachment ) There is a little pain when walking as well when my leg is dragged back through my gait. I have read possible ITBS, bursitis, or hopefull not a stress fracture? I am having a hard time diagnosing it so if anyone could help me that would be great! I have been resting, taking anti inflammatory and rolling over the area with a small foam roller.
