Will be working in uptown. Looking for trails and an open track. Interested in an apartment as opposed to a house. Running ~80 mpw at the moment. Any suggestions?

Katy Trails are all cement but nearby. Have had a few muggings lately though. There's White Rock Lake with a loop of 9 to 12 miles and in south Dallas there are areas with good hills.
Cedar Hill State Park (hills, trails, roads) (20-30 minutes from downtown)
Katy Trail is mostly dangerous for women (muggings, etc.)
White Rock is nice (long runs)
Norbuck Park (grassy, flat) is right over by White Rock
Boulder Park is small and wooded off of 67 in Dallas
move to Highland Village.
What's your budget...generally speaking? Highland Village is nice and near the lake. Good hills. Lots of tracks, reasonably safe area. Just don't go too far east. Also, living near the rail lines will be good to get your to downtown (south) and north (Richardson, Plano, Allen and beyond) if you want to escape a little without a car.
Since when is Norbuck Park flat?
Boulder Park was over-grown this summer.
Cedar Hill State Park costs an entrance fee every time you enter.
Katy Trail is where the joggers go.
But White Rock Lake is a haven...Thank God for White Rock Lake (and I am being serious)!
When I was considering moving there I looked around Grapevine. if you're working in uptown the commute would be horrible but a good place to look for some nice runs on the weekend.
I do my long runs at White Rock. You'll always see other runners out there. The hills are pretty miniscule though, unfortunately.
As a current resident of Uptown, I'll say this:
1. Since you're working here, living anywhere else would be foolish. Well, that's assuming you like hot women, good bars and the social scene. If you're totally not into that stuff, you could live elsewhere, but in my opinion, a really short commute is important.
2. There isn't much in the way of trails. Katy trail is really crowded, but would be sufficient. White Rock is the best bet, but I don't know if you're cool with running at the same place every day.
3. I workout at the Germany Park track (in Highland Park) and at the SMU track. Both are very short drives from uptown. The SMU one isnt open 100% of the time, so I tend to go to Germany more.
4. Finally, there is a Gold's Gym right in ther middle of uptown, and a 24-hour fitness in downtown Dallas.
In summary, the trail scene in Dallas is lacking, but to get something better, you are gonna have to live very far from your work.
