what would make for some good 400 meter base training? 200 meter cruise intervals with short rest?
I would add a 30 minute long run. One of the things that I liked to do in the offseason was lots and lots of resistance workouts using my own bodyweight, it seemed to help get me to sub 50. I did a crap load of pushups, pull ups, situps, crunches, planks, any resistance workout i could find, I actually didn't do a lot of weight training, but that was because I only had access to a weight room once a week. I think the different kinds of pushups helped me get good at holding form, I remember my claim to fame in preseason conditioning was that I set the school record in pushups, 274, and i felt like a beast, I ran 48.90 4 months later.
