My man's got some pipes.
My man's got some pipes.
*get chills.
Damn.
I would agree...Great National Anthem by him. Why were the fans cheering incessantly throughout the entire song? Call me old-fashioned, but isn't there an unspoken rule to hold all applause and cheers until the near end?
too bad it sucked
The cheering throughout the national anthem is a tradition at blackhawk games. Not sure if it is at bears games too.
I don't really follow the Blackhawks or watch their games, but the announcer mentioned that Cornelison was from the Blackhawks, so I guess that explains that.

I do not watch hockey. I also am not a student of the traditions of the Chicago area.
However, cheering during the entire national anthem is just another sign of the times.
Things have gone from trying to be respectful to it is actually acceptable to be disrespectful. Or, trying to look nice, to trying to look 'gansta'. Or, males pursuing females, to females stalking males, and female teachers sleeping with boy students. Or, students talking back to teachers, and parents threatening to get the teacher fired rather than applying discipline to their kid.
Road rage, texting while driving, and new citizens of our country telling people ' no habla englese', and expecting people to speak their language rather than learn the language of the country they desire to be a part of.
The list goes on and on.
I am just glad I'm over 40, and grew up when I did. We played OUTSIDE. Obesity was very rare, and never even heard of other than some animal jokes. I never heard the f word until I was a teenager. My parents didn't have a cleaning company clean our house, they had us kids! My mom raised us, not some hired nanny! Our friends came to the screen door and asked if we could come OUTSIDE to play football, basketball, street hockey, kill-the-man-with the ball, it-tag, etc.
Chauffer the lazy bastards to the end of your driveway, and let them play video games all day. Go on.
See where this country is in 40 years.
No one will have to invade. They will just walk in, and your lazy-ass, disrespectful brats won't be able to get out of their extra wide chair.

Please, tell us how you really feel. Did people cheering during the national anthem really warrant that rambling tangent? I don't think so. However, I will say it was an impressive national anthem.
Boy buddy, you need a b****** and a bowl of bran flakes.
Hey Mick,
A very large percentage of the Chicago fans sing along with the anthem, very loudly. This did come from the Blackhawks and originally the cheering started before the last note was finished, then eventually the yelling moved back to the start of the song. If I remember correctly, that became nationally noticed at the NHL All-Star game during the start of the Persian Gulf war. The noise and cheering was in support of the troops and included a lot of flag waving.
You usually don't hear the cheering at the start of an event unless it's one of the Blackhawk baritone singers at the mic. You can still hear their booming voices over the yelling, and like today, it can give you chills.
As for the rest of your screed, I have to say you aren't that far off. But this has nothing to do with that.
By the way, what kid of prissy neighborhood did you come from? When I grew up, if you wanted someone to come out and play, you stood in their gangway and yelled, "Yo! (NAME)!"
Great singing - disappointed in the Bears fans!!!

... and WE LIKED IT! Thank you, grumpyoldman.
I saw Mr. Cornelison belt out the anthem at a recent Blackhawks game and was at first frustrated at the crowd. As the cheering got louder my mood changed. People were genuinely excited about the anthem and how well Mr. Cornelison can sing. As was mentioned, the cheering tradition started in 1985 during a playoff hockey game. I think he's doing the NFC championship as well. Man that guy can sing!

I was more of a Wayne Messmer fan, but then he got shot while getting serviced by a local pro.
The anthem at the old Chicago Stadium was quite the experience.
I would prefer it remain solely a Hawks tradition.
Mick quotes a world that never existed except in his dreams. Life is better now.
Meaningless showboating on his part given the US government is the principal financier of the Nazi Occupation of Palestine by European Zionists.
I understand an initial reaction by some that it is disrespectful. But isn't the huge response more recognition of the anthem than a few people mumbling along with a band or recording? There isn't one ounce of disrespect goin' on in Chicago. Must be awesome to hear 60,000 cheering, only 20,000 at a hockey game.

I like that , Dev !!
although I am pretty sure we would have got wacked by the parent of that house. (They were allowed)
But, you are right, I did rant.
I was at a major high school sports event a couple years ago. Some guy (an adult) was on his cell phone with his hat on during the national anthem. I had to hold my ex-marine friend back-seriously. He wanted to kill the guy.
You pussy jarheads can't fight man to man so get off of it.
