I went for a run yesterday on roads that are partially thawed but still halfway covered in snow and ice - very uneven surface. Towards the end of the run my big toe was hurting and also hurt to walk last night. It feels a little better now, but still hurts to walk. I can lift the toe upward manually with no pain, but when I engaged the muscle to move the toe up on it's own it hurts. Moving it down on it's own, I feel no pain.
I am pretty sure it's the tendon, but don't know what I've done to it or how I should treat it.
Any advice?
