I've had an injury for several years. PT has helped some, still in PT, SI joint.
Anyway, my question is about anti-inflammatories. Doc told me that I could take 600 mg of ibuprofin 3 times per day w/no problem--even for years if necessary.
I have tried taking them for this condition when the injury was worse and it didn't really help much. I even took steroids but that's another story. But, now, if I took them, I would probably feel better, at least until I had to take them again. Or I might.
I read an article written by a runner/surgeon saying that runners should not take NSAIDs b/c they prevent muscle recovery--which is important to me right now, not just for running, but in the off-chance the PT might just work (if my muscles can't recover, it wouldn't seem they could get stronger in PT).
Doc said article was just one person's opinion. What do you think? Are they good or bad for athletes? Do you take them?
Thanks.
