You're a finalist for the darwin awards...loser.
Actually, no, he is alive which means you don't know what a Darwin award is.

No, his stupidity just hasn't caught up with him yet. And way to defend someone who makes a joke out of someone else's misfortune.
Getting hit by a train while running alone with headphones on isn't exactly misfortune. Condolences to her family, etc., but come on.
That's it, defend stupidity.
Running on train tracks with an ipod? Very intelligent. Sometimes when I'm not doing that I run across highways with my eyes closed.
I've had some close encounters with cars while running with an iPod. It is very dangerous indeed unless you are running on a sidewalk to trail.
I always put in one of the earbuds when I listen to anything while running or biking. That way you can still hear what is around you.
iPod or not you should still be able to hear a train coming. She must have had the volume maxed out.

Nope, what about that girl who got killed by a biker?
Runners get killed all the time. Running is very dangerous. Driving is also very dangerous. It's best to stay at home and watch TV.

While running along active train tracks is a poor decision, I am curious about how it is that she did not hear it if the engineer sounded the horn. Those things are loud.
Also, the story does not say it was an iPod, just a music device.

Probably a suicide attempt, but since no one can be sure, it won't be labeled as such, which may save her parents from some grief.

Hey, smart idea. Seriously.

I think I got it from watching Lance in the tour. He always had one earbud in to hear his coach.
That is awful. This is why they outlaw running running on the tracks.

I'd have to go with this. The initial story sounds a bit sketchy, but this is what I would assume. Though suicide via running in front of a train is definitely out the ordinary, I can't think of a way she would not be able to hear the horn, unless the music device was on full blast or something.
This is what was happening around her: "HHHOOOOOOONNNNNNNKKKKK!!!! HHHHHHOOOOONNNNNNKKKKKK!!!"
This is what she heard:
"SINCE YOU'VE BEEN GONE, I CAN BREATHE FOR THE FIRST TIME"
