I want to switch to a more minimal shoe. I currently run in the Mizuno Inspire and have never had an injury. Would the kinvara be a good shoe to try if I want to transition to a minimalist shoe?
I have low arches, moderate overpronation and run between 30-40 mpw. 5'11" 155. Any feedback would be great!
You may even try the Mirage coming out February 1..it is on the Kinvarra last with a little posting...
I've worn the inspire and have tried out the mirage briefly. Feels almost the same as the kinvara, but would give you the support that will make your transition a bit less drastic.

A more minimal shoe will make make some difference in your becoming faster, but that's not the whole story. The idea behind a more minimal shoe is that your feet won't become lazy and therefore your body adapts to being more efficient with bio mechanics. With your body becoming more efficient with bio mechanics, you hypothetically become injured less. Therefore, less time injured equals more time training - which equates to faster times.
On a side note: be smart about transitioning so you don't become injured immediately.
i really like the kinvara, but it is not a very durable shoe. i'm pretty tough on my shoes, though, because i supernate, so you may not have this problem.
i've always worn minimal support shoes, so i can't tell you how it'll help with your transition, but it's been a good shoe for me. you may also want to consider one of the asics speedstar models...
speaking of asics, how do the tarther and hyper speed do as far as a minimalist running shoe go?
May not even be a bad idea to take one step down- maybe a DS trainer or an Adidas Tempo THEN go to the Kinvara? Just a thought

switching to minimal means you will not be able to run as far, fast or as hard as you were until your body is strong enough. then it might translate into faster times or not. more likely it will just make you more durable as long as you run at slower speeds all the time.
in all seriousness, what is the point of minimalist shoes if they aren't going to make you faster?
