Seriously if you're too broke to buy a good computer you should just /yourself already.

You do mean aside from the fact you can get a computer that is just as good without the 'Apple Tax' that doubles the price?
I don't have a mac because I am heterosexual.
I don't drive a Prius, I don't wear Vibram's and I don't have a Mac.
(this witty comeback made on a laptop)
I put Linux on my computer, so I pretty much got a Mac for free.
you mean the one that your parents helped you pay for?
I used to hate on Mac too, until I started using my wife's MacBook Pro. Then I decided to get one with a bonus check from work, and now it's really the only computer I use at home. The hardware is what really makes it. The battery does last 8 hours, the multitouch pad is really nice, the unibody construction makes it feel solid and "quality", and it just looks good. It also gets a big plus for the lit keyboard.
I do not wear vibrams or drive a hybrid by the way.

Bingo!
Ubuntu 10.04 here (Linux) and love it. There is a bigger learning curve than with a mac, but not much and I can run an old laptop like it's a brand new machine. It actually runs a little quicker than my buddy's newer macbook pro. I love the Ubuntu software center, tons of free software. It has it's drawbacks (you need to have a little computer geekness in you at times) but you can't be the price (FREE!) I installed it on my parents laptop (they aren't the most computer savvy) and they haven't had too many problems navigating around.

We are here to make fun of pretentious douches like yourself. Thank you for helping us out of the doldrums of Saturday boredom.
I think very few people question the quality of Apple's products anymore, but I think you have to have a lot of disposable income to not question whether the performance advantages over relatively spec'd PCs make Apple products a wise purchase. They are cool, but I'd rather take a 4 day trip to another part of the country.
I have a Dell Latitude. 8 hour battery life and build solid. And it doesn't have the price of a Mac. It is 3.5 years old now and still running strong. For viruses and spyware, I use free stuff like Avast.
I could have paid a little extra and gotten a Lenova, with even better build quality and a lit keyboard, and it would still be less than a Mac.
Nothing against Macs, but if you want to pay more for style and the cool factor, that's an individual decision.
The cost of a MacBook is not the OS. So who cares that Ubuntu is free.

Well for my parents the cost of a new laptop was FREE since I installed Ubuntu on a 4 year old machine and it performs WELL. Like I said, I have a friend with a new macbook, and it;s nice, but if you are surfing the net, using word, watching some video here and there, and email like most users, Why spend 1000+ bucks?
I love that people are willing to drop an extra grand on Macs which they then use to edit documents and check facebook.

It sounds like everyone else has chimed in with replies that are similar to what I would have said, so I will simply say "cheers"...

You don't have a Mac because you don't have money. Your could be a white male, hetero, and poor. You either live, in your mom's basement, in a Trailer Park, or not alone.

You are not in a majority, Guru. You love of PCs, and hatred of Macs has been noted on this forum. You are not an objective observe. You are happy with what you have as a computer setup. You are very unhappy with anyone who doesn't see it your way.
