Is there any general information on training for a marathon? I live by the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University. I used to run in high school.

unfortunatly not.
Nope, none. Sorry man.
Just run a lot.
Try the barefoot forum at Runner's World.
Most people here are just trying to run 100 miles a week.
read Galloway's book Marathon.
Unfortunately, most people on these forums are d-bags. They are a bunch of wannabe elite's who feel big sitting behind a computer on an anonymous forum. Truth be told, 98% people here lie about there times and wish they were fast. You won't find much advice here because you will be belittled if you don't run sub 2:30 marathons or 4:10 mile.
Honestly, every real "good" runner wouldn't waste their time posting d-bag remarks because they aren't insecure (like most people are) with their ability.
To actually help you, there are plenty of plans and stuff to use. I like Daniels Running Formula by Jack Daniels. Galloway is OK if you want a plan with alot of rest. Just use google, and something good will come up. Make sure you plan on 18 weeks of workouts prior to the Race, but you will nees at least 6 weeks of base mileage before workouts.
Good luck man
Too bad all these self claimed "sub 2:20 marathoners and 4:00 milers" on the forums are too conceited to help...( sarcasm intended)
