Should it be lowered?
Should it be lowered?
What the f*** are you talking about?
That's a legitimate question. If your BQ comes from a faked marathon should your time have to meet a more stringent standard? After all anyone can fake a 3:00 marathon with very little training.
I think I've changed my mind on this matter. Rather than tightening the standard, instead, a second faked Boston Marathon should be held for all entrants from fake marathons. The outcome of this race will be that all runners will be recorded as having crossed the finish line at exactly the same time giving everyone the bragging rights for having won the fake Boston Marathon. All participants will receive a fake certificate to validate their victories, too.
Perhaps this will be appealing enough to divert this class of runners away from the real world of running and help steer them towards a more gratifying series of faked races.
I'm thinking of starting a new event it's called the "marathonish". It looks a lot like a marathon, but is some arbitrarily shorter distance. So you could run, say the Chicago marathonish to qualify for the Boston marathonish. And when non-runners ask you "how far was the marathon you ran?". You can answer "well my marathonish was about 3 miles, I had a really good day!"
