I am thinking of going mammoth hunting with a few friends armed with spears. My guess is that it can't be that difficult. It seems like they've got to tire pretty quickly. Anybody have any experience with this?

Don't rush in to this without a little practice first. I recommend running out onto a fairly busy freeway and taking on some one-tons and semis front-on, taking out tires and/or radiators with the spear. this will help develop agility and strength necessary. When the police arrive, use rocks at first, then charge if they get out. This will prep you for fending of sabre-tooths and dyre wolves during the butchering of the tusker.
