It is so awkward. I had to turn it off because it made me physically uncomfortable to watch. Wasn't Rupp's fault so much as the interviewer

salazar was the same - very uncomfortable, almost hostile.
My take on it was that he knew he was talking to letsrun and that both of them are ticked off at the haters on the boards. What with rupp-certification and the constant claims of drug use under Salazar and Dathan's marathon failures.
On the boards, not the main page.
I dunno
Seems like they have a reason to be grumpy at lrc.
But there is an equal chance they have no idea what I am talking about and lrc is much more important in my mind than in theirs.
I thought Rupp and Salazar answered the questions as thoughtfully and diplomatically as possible, considering the interviewer was worse than a total amateur.
I appreciate outlets such as LetsRun and Flotrack that bring race footage and interviews to the running community, but the interviewing skills are terrible. For godsakes, how about doing a little preparation?? Ask a single question with a point and wait for an answer. Then move on to the next question in the same manner.
If someone asked me all those questions with so much hemming and hawing and lack of direction, I'd begin to wonder if there was even tape in the recorder or a disc in the camera.
You do know the interviewer was wejo, right?

The Brojos were hostile and insulting to Rupp for years, only starting to lay of the bias towards the very end of his senior year.

"You do know" is no longer acceptable, being arrogant and infantile.
Thanks.

thought so but wasn't sure. He shouldn't interview people anymore.

I thought the same.
It was a little hard to watch. The complete lack of regard for each other (Wejo vs Rupp/Salazar) was palpable.
No different really than George’s dad when he starts in with the airing of grievances during the Festivus for the Restivus.

The real reason I don't like Salazar or Rupp is because supporters of theirs claim people like Lomong and Manzano aren't Americans, when in reality Rupp is Irish, which isn't really American, and Salazar was born in Cuba and is definitely not American.
If you're going to take things to that level, at least be honest with yourself and what you support. Wheating's father is from South Africa of English and probably some Dutch Afrikaner (white) descent.
Its almost like every single distance runner in America can only loosely be considered 'American' in the traditional sense.

-ding, ding. this is completely true. if you knew a site allowed you to be made fun of CONSTANTLY with unflattering pics, that idiot that did the xc predictions about galen, and the overall tone propogated, wouldn't you be a little less than anxious to want to give them interviews? talk about the ultimate in bandwagoners.

Hey Pooks, would it bother you at all if the basis for your dissention was deeply flawed? Or would you just dream up another outlandish factoid to support your neurosis.

perhaps it has to do with Rupp being Rupp.
I mean, in running circles when you say 'Rupp' its its own word with its own meaning. Rupp, basically.
Now, take Solinsky. 100% full blooded man. Makes no excuses. Got the job DONE. Continues to get the job DONE. That is a man, someone you respect.
I respected Solinsky from day one for the way he was brought up, his humility, his work ethic and drive, and in the end how it all equated to his success.
Now, I look at Rupp, Acosta, Salazar. I think whats wrong with these kids? Why is it that blue color poor kids always outperform the rich snots day after day?
In our sport, hard work, not money or even coaching matters. If someone is willing to work hard for it, they are successful. If someone thinks money can make up for something they are mistaken.

really pookey - you are part of the problem. You seem to be implying that Rupp is failing in some way, probably because he is a 'rich snot.'
Galen won multiple NCAA championships, including over Chelanga. Dude is the second fastest american over 10k. He worked hard on his kick after losing many races and now he has a great kick.
He ran 13:07. He goes to Europe to race in the snow in a meaningless race in an event he probably doesn't want to race. He has never embarrassed himself or his country or his college in any way. And he is just 24.
What the f is your problem?

Yes, little boy. When you have nothing to work with...attack (feeble as it was).
