go graduation rates! Go educational standards and academic integrity! Go preparing players for life after they dont graduate and are not in the nfl!
Two institutions of lower learning (look up the USNWR rankings):
Gordon Gekko vs. Corruption Incorporated (i.e., the swoosh)
That's why I didn't watch. I slightly favored the Tigers due to the extreme arrogance of the Oregon fans.
Have the standard Oregon excuses started yet??
TCU fans are happy.
If Auburn's title gets vacated, TCU deserves the crown.
Plus, the game was sloppy and TCU fans think they could have won if they have been given a chance.
I didn't hear ESPN once mention what TCU's chances would be. I guess too many $$$ at stake.

The extreme arrogance of the Oregon fans? No worse than the extreme arrogance of the SEC fans. SEC partisans are the most obnoxious people in football, usually.

completely agree.
And Oregon blew away Auburns cheerleaders. Long sleeves??? Really?
Well Oregon shouldn't feel bad. They lost to a real Pro.

Yeah dudes, University of Oregon NEVER EVER has professionals compete in college athletics. never....ever
Is there a FREE DVD of the game. I don't have pay Tv, only UHF DigitalTV.
I am not sure I would have been happy if either team won. This year is a year where I felt like neither school in the game was one of the top 2 teams. In years past I might have disagreed about one team being there but not both.
Also I hate Oregon and the fact that they go for two when up by 35 points and Auburn is a bunch of dirty cheap shot throwing players. I will say this though Gene Chizik definitely seems like he fits in well at the redneck school of the south.

Much worse when you remember Oregon hasn't won shit. How is it arrogance when it's backed up? That's 5 titles in a row for the conference and 7 of the 13 played. Like it or not, the SEC continues to prove it's the best.

I think TCU fans are unhappy. They could easily argue that their team was better than either of those two. And if the title gets vacated, there will be NO national champion. TCU got robbed.
Full disclosure up front, I'm a Duck.
First, I thought it was a great game and congrats to Auburn and their fans. I have nothing against Auburn (unless Cam is found guilty later), and while I find the SEC obnoxious the pride is mostly deserved.
I thought Oregon left some points on the field with stupid mistakes, but if it had been three points the other way I'm sure Auburn could have said the same thing.
T.C.U. doesn't have crap, they don't even deserve the second ranking in the country in the final polls (though they will probably get it). They barely beat Wisconsin from the perennially overrated Big 10. The Big 10 is the opposite of the SEC, never wins a bowl game. I think it's great that T.C.U. made the move to BCS conference, it's just too bad the moved to the Big Least were no one will take them seriously still.
What happened tonight was that everyone saw how good the defenses were that got both these teams to undefeated seasons. (has anyone held Auburn without a touchdown in the second half this year?) These were clearly the two best teams in the country.
Everyone making excuses and crying about Oregon having Nike backing is just that, a crier. Every successful program has major boosters, and the Oregon athletic department budget pales in comparison to most, if not all SEC programs, Big 10 schools, and the bigger Big 12 schools.
Auburn's front four on the defense line made the difference and were impenetrable. I thought Chip Kelly's playcalling was ridiculous as he kept trying to push through the line, especially on 3rd down. As per usual in the SEC, Auburn played a lot of physical games in the trenches, which really helped them, while Oregon had one and only one scare during the season. But Auburn was the better team anyway.
As I said on a different thread, I think Stanford beats Oregon if they played again, especially at a neutral site. That said, it was nice to finally see something other than an SEC blowout of the Big Ten. I think Newton is overrated relative to his peers. Mallett and Luck will be better NFL QBs. Probably Dalton too.
TCU received a total of 4 first place votes between two polls. They deserve no more.
Chip had the best running game in the country. reasons why he wanted to rush up the middle:A: big men usually tired after a layoff, if they get tired, Oregon wins.B. Lamichael James needs very little space to get 5-10 yardsC. Their quarterback was unable to do anything during pass rushes, so running up the middle at least had the D thinking that they might now want to bringing everyone.

I could not for the life of me understand this either. You'd see the Auburn defense anticipate all run plays perfectly; the outsides of the line had guys who were barely covered by Auburn. Oregon kept insisting on handing off and trying to go right up the middle, into the teeth of the defensive line. It seemed like Oregon would only try a short pass when particularly "desperate" and yet those were clearly their best drives.

seriously! This sentiment is ridiculous. Why the f do I care what the academic reputation of the school in a football championship is?

Kelly lost that game for them. What the hell was he thinking throwing 4 running plays at Auburn inside the 10 yard line with 3:00 left in the 3rd quarter? The score was 19-11, did he forget they had another quarter left to play? Did he forget how ineffective their rush attack had been all game? There's a time to play aggressive and there's a time to play smart. Apparently brains never factored into Oregon's gameplan.
