Does any of this come as a shock? He started the season by signing the ESPN bus 2010-11 Super Bowl Champions. Of course he is egotistical! Most NFL coaches are because if they weren't they wouldn't be the head coach at the highest level in their chosen profession. Rex is no different than his father who as a defensive coordinator managed to make the game all about him. Having said this, it doesn't matter who wins between the Jets and Pats because the Steelers are winning the whole thing this year!
Look at what happened when he was spouting off during the regular season before playing the Patriots. I found it hilarious that he said personel wise they are the equal across the board. Ummmmm Rex, the Sanchize is not even close to Tom Brady.

There's a method to his madness. If he didn't make that statement the lead story all week would be about Sanchez's lack of experience or the beating that the Jets took the last time these two teams met. Now the focus is on Rex. He takes the pressure off of his players and puts it squarely on his own shoulders by saying that it is a match-up of coaching wits. He may seem like a blow hard but there is a method to his madness and he's a great coach. He led the Jets to the playoffs 2 years straight and was 1 half away from the Superbowl last year. If they can get past NE this Sunday they will win it all.

The Jets, at this point, are a bit like the Seahawks. They're a decent team on a good day and have put together a few good games when it counted. But they are on shaky legs and their days in these playoffs are numbered. Thumbs up to Ryan, though, for entertaining the fans with some WWE theatrics.

Ok, admitting bias here (New England born and bred, Patriots fan since before they were good, blah blah blah). . . Rex Ryan is an egotistical moron, but his dumbest comments haven't been about Belichick.
After they beat the Colts, Ryan said to the press, "I finally beat Manning!" Not "we," not "my team." It was all about REX RYAN beating MANNING. . . as if the two of them were playing video games or poker or something, and Ryan finally outwitted Manning.
Obviously, as the coach, Ryan had a big hand in the Jets' win (and it was an impressive win, I have no trouble admitting that). But, uh. . . I would think the PLAYERS ON THE TEAM had a pretty big hand in the victory. Going for a field goal with basically no time left is something any coach would have had to do in that situation. MAKING the field goal was not necessarily a given.
I just hope the Patriots play like they've been playing and give Ryan a good thrashing.
The Jets are legit. They could win it all.
They have the best special teams in the game.
They have one of the best D's in the game.
They have an OK offense where if Schotty calls a good one, and Sanchez doesn't blow it, they are solid enough.
Bottom line... Jets beat the Pats. They do it with good punting from Weatherford, keeping the ball out of Brady's hands, one D/ST touchdown, one offensive touchdown, few penalties, and 1 field goal. Final score: 17-14, Jets.
Rex is the kind of coach that if you don't play for him, you hate. But everyone in the NFL (except for maybe Brady) wants to play for him. He motivates like no other, is a great defensive coordinator, and has assembled one of the best teams in the NFL. Not sure how you can debate that. They have beat the Steelers, the Pats and the Colts, and lost by 1 point to Baltimore in one of the worst played games I have ever seen... so none of this "they don't win against good teams" nonsense.
The only reason the Jet's were not 14-2 were because of Sanchez and their pass-rush. Its the dude's second year, he has improved a ton, and I think he will be fine in the playoffs. The pass rush has gotten better and the D has played well since the shellacking against the Pats.
Stop Wes Welker and Danny Woodhead (of all people) and the Jets win.

You can quote all the meaningless stats you want about the Jets. There's only one stat that matters in the NFL. It's binary and you get 16 chances to improve your percentage. The Pats score more points than their opponents more often than anybody else. Spouting bullshit stats in an attempt to make yourself feel better about your team's chances is a complete waste of time. The Jets would be 14-2 with a better QB and pass rush? BUT THEY DON'T!!! Every NFL team would be better with a better pass rush and better QB. Should we give Ryan the Lombardi trophy because his team would be unbeatable if they were a better team? WTF???
