So I'm a senior science undergrad but have to take a art/music/theater class of some kind to meet a general requirement. I signed up for an Art History class, and I'm a little worried. We had to talk about how different peices of art displayed on the ppt made us feel in class today, and honestly, I'm totally indifferent to 99% of art. I don't look down on it or anything; it just doesn't do anything for me and I don't even know how it's supposed to make me feel. I also tend to think very objectively about things and the prof stressed that a very large part of art and the class is going to be subjective interpretation. To me, the painting just looked like a guy laying down. I really couldn't describe much beyond that, yet the prof expected us to have a 15 minute discussion on it.
Anyone else been there? I mean, an analytical mind type person in an artsy-fartsy class? How'd it go?
FYI, various dance classes etc are full so I'm kind of stuck where I am.
