Ummmm, ever heard of Kara Goucher?

Shalane and Kara will be a lock. It will be a race for third. Desiree Davila is the easy favorite, but she will also be under the most pressure after just missing it last time.

For the men, I think Hall is a lock. He is still sub 2:10 on a bad day. He burnt out on Mahon. But who hasn't gotten tired of their coach, especially when you are the great white hope for US distance running.

Meb and Ritz should be the rest of the field based on resume. But Ritz is made of glass, and Meb will be over 35. Meb will also be under bigtime pressure as this is his last chance.

Gotcher is statistically the next guy, but had a bad season after Houston.

Maybe something strange will happen and KK and Hussein Mbarak will get through in a tactical race. Two 40+ year old African immigrants beating up on the best the US has to offer would be great for the sport.

But, seriously, it is hard to see anything other than Ritz, Meb and Hall.
