Yea I just heard that on the news.

The unibomber?
Sorry about that. I've never seen it written down/typed. I just assumed it was unibomber.
Nobody cares... :/
Good! The Unabomber is in Colorado's SuperMax prison. Hopefully the outcome of this trial will be the same.
Now, if you told me that the late Johnny Cochran and Kardashian were going to be Jared's lawyer, and that they were going to use a California jury, THEN I'd be worried.
Actually, the authorities are likely glad she is on board.
She is competent and experienced. And given the depth of the tragedy and its impact on the community, no local public defender would likely be able to handle this case.
This defense counsel's work will likely be less about disproving guilt and more about saving his life.
The shooter is clearly mentally unbalanced. The guy was kicked out of college because of mental instability. The true question is how did this guy get a gun? It is scary that a mentally unbalanced person looking to make a political statement (after being whipped up by the vicious partisan rhetoric) can fairly easily gain access to guns and amunition.
Yes, the shooter is mentally unbalanced, and likely schizophrenic (based on news reports).
But the insanity defense will not be easy here - far from it.
There is evidence he planned his acts, and asked his friends to accept an apology prior to the act. It will be difficult to maintain he did not know right from wrong.
I agree that the insanity defense will be difficult in this case. To be honest I am not all that concerned about what happens to this guy. I just find it scary how easy it is for anybody, regardless of their state of mind, to gain access to guns in this country. This guy was kicked out of college due to his mental instability and told that he could not return until he passes pschological testing. Yet, here he is shooting up a crowd. It is just crazy how much damage can be done by some crazy person in this country.
She's on a serious losing streak with no end in sight.
The lawyer is an American hero for taking on these cases. There would never be a valid conviction without competent counsel.
Welcome to Arizona!
She is probably a government shill, representing the patsy to make sure he gets convicted and says nothing.
It's amazing how many people think the guy is guilty and he's not even had a typically biased trial yet.
Personally, as I don't watch the news, I've not seen or heard much about this event, one way or the other. I suppose it's easy to make up your mind about things if all you do is numbly accept however the government media tells you to think.
It's pretty cut and dried that this guy did it. He was tackled by several people and held until the cops arrived.
There is a difference between being skeptical of the media and government and just being paranoid. You're probably one of these people who still believe we didn't land on the moon, because you weren't there to see it yourself.
Ironic handle, btw.

You're right, maybe he's not guilty. Maybe his online apology was actually just for a fart, and maybe his anti-government rantings were just copied-and-pasted from Uncle B on this board and he didn't believe them at all, and maybe the gunman actually just looked like him and then teleported himself out and teleported this poor witless soul in, where he was grabbed by the many bystanders who saw him commit the act.
Would you care to explain how he is likely not guilty?
Anti-establishmentarianism is not a replacement for intelligence, regardless of what your other college buddies think.

Wow I hadn't realized he was tackled by several people. That locks up the case then, he is definitely guilty of killing at least a half dozen people woowwieeeee!!!!
Why didn't I "see" your "clear cut thinking" before????
Good grief, he was tackled by several people, and this was probably even broadcast on the corporate news media!!! Therefore it has to be true!!!! And they even said the guy apologized, after he was tackled and beaten!!! That certainly pours the cream on the cake!!!
Well obviously you are much more of a clear thinking then me, since I could never imagined he was guilty just because he was tackled and beaten. This settles something else I have wondered about, were all those people tackled, tased to death or choked by police guilty???? Have all those poor women and children murdered at the hands of the U.S. military guilty???? of whatever imagined crime they commited, like filling a bucket full of water from a stream????
Well now I see, I see, they were all guilty, because it says so on the U.S. corporate sponsored TV news stations!!!!
Thank goodness we have such clear thinkers as you amongst us!!!
Oh yeah and the guy even had a youtube channel, and said he doesn't agree with the U.S. imperialist policies.
Therefore, he is obviously guilty of murder!!!!
Spoken like a true person with their head buried deep in he sand. Your brain operates in as if critical thinking is entirely optional. Your rant sounds exactly like that of the shooter. You two are cut from the exact same mold.
The lost art of thinking - you are correct as a matter of principle to guard against a rush to judgment.
In this case, however, the practical culpability of the alleged seems essentially beyond question. Yes, there is a presumption of innocence, but that doesn't pertain outside of the courtroom, where citizens can draw conclusions based on overwhelming evidence. Drawing this conclusion in this case is hardly extreme or one borne from simplistic thinking.
What matters now is the legal culpability. And yuppers is correct - competent defense counsel make our system work - even if they take on unpopular cases such as this one.
Given his mental instability, I would think this is the avenue defense counsel will explore.
Query whether she will conclude that her client is fit to stand trial? That's a strange ball of complications if she takes this route.
a think you are are not wrote:

How dare you attack my conventional thinking and conclusions that I got from listening to network TV!!!! You must be a murderer like that crackpot that got tackled!!! Therefore you must be his brother!!!
