Why haven't they ever tried putting the half marathon in the olympics? It's a big event all over the world. I understand most of the guys who would probablly win the half would be in the marathon but why not try it/

I'd like to see it in the first week- not on the track program. It would be a road race to separate track from roads.
Lobby your congressperson. They're the ones who decide.
There's zero percent chance this will happen and this is about 48th thread about it and it's time to stop. It's more likely that they'd eliminate the 10k than add to half marathon. This is not what the IOC is looking to do.
Because the IOC has already surpassed their quota for incrementally distanced and redundant events, in the arena of SWIMMING.
After they add the half marathon then they can go ahead and add a cross country event to the winter olympics.
Cross Country is on the table for 2018 so you know.
i would much rather they add XC to winter than the HM to summer
Adding the half marathon to the olympics would as strange as it sounds take away from the event.
It's just like having the World Majors marathon series interferes with the World Championships/Olympics. If anything I'd prefer they take away the marathon from the Olympics instead of adding the half marathon...either that or rearrange/cancel the marathon majors series.
