He is one of the best QBs of all time but he has a losing record in the playoffs. Why the discrepancy? How does that affect his legacy?

If you're referring to tonight, he didn't have Clark, Collie, Gonzalez on offense, and have had injury problems all year offense and defense. Manning clearly carried this team into the playoffs, and it wasn't because of him they lost tonight. If they had been a healthy team, they would have had the bye, and had been heavy contenders for the AFC Championship.
I wouldn't read into this year. He is an ace QB with a .500 team around him. Without Manning, the Colts don't even make the playoffs this year. Even on their better years, Manning has made the team what it is. If you could plug him into an actual team with actual playmakers, different story.
Did you watch the game? The Colts have the worst running game in the league. The Jets were daring the Colts to run and they still couldn't. The Colts have no defense other than 2 guys that can rush the passer. They have no ST either. Always among the worst in the league in returns and covering kicks. They have an offensive line that is full of undrafted FA off the street. The only reason they ever make the playoffs is because of Manning.
Okay, but if we look at Pey Pey's body of work over his career, he's only had one really good post-season (when he won the Super Bowl against the Bears a few years ago). Why did he have a good post-season that year? Because he actually allowed the running game to get established. Pey Pey's a pretty selfish dude, if you ask me. I can remember when the Steelers went to the Super Bowl in 2005, Pey Pey had a chance to run the game clock down and kick a game winning field goal, but instead he kept throwing the ball to give the ball back to the Steelers that game. It's all about stats to him. Not to mention his gracious "We had some protection problems" speech after that loss to the Steelers.
Granted, I'm biased. I don't like Pey Pey. But I think his post-season failures are a result of his selfish, stat-mongering attitude.
Steroids mess up mental concentration.
IT IS TWO THINGS. FIRST IS INFATUATED WITH PASSING,NOT RUNNING THE BOWL SINCE HE IS A PRISONER OF HIS STATS. HIS TEAM LEADERSHIP IS ALSO LACKING. IN CRITICAL MOMENTS HE HANGS HIS HEAD DOWN AND DOES NOT WANT TO WATCH. HE IS HAPPY TO BE IN A WEAK DIVISION AND CRUISING TO THE PLAYOFFS EVERY YEAR, AND CHOKE WHEN HE GETS THERE.

He's too high strung. Someone with his talent and preparation is great for the "normal" game. He's like the genius you knew in high school that would always crash and burn during major tests, like the SATs.
my two cents,
Do you listen when Payton Manning speaks about his teammates and coaching? He is all positive. For this, Payton Manning is recognized as one of the best leaders in all professional sports (i.e. Derek Jeter, Kobe Bryant, Tom Brady).
Ask yourself: "How many pro bowlers are on Indy right now?" I'll name them: QB Peyton Manning, WR Reggie Wayne, DE Dwight Freeney and DE Robert Mathis. Revis was on Wayne. So Manning, who was already playing with one arm behind his back (considering injuries), had his best offensive weapon on lock-down. Plus, Indy's running game sucks!
Manning year-after-year puts Indy on his back and is mocked by naysayers like you. And your "Monday Morning Quarterback" antics are irrelevant.
This is all coming from a Jets fan.

You must be the stupidest person on earth or you have been brainwashed by the espn propoganda machine. Bryant is among one of the WORST teammates ever in professional sports. Threatens to leave team if they don't get (fisher and gasol gift wrapped to lakers by nba) better players, constantly calls out teammates when he is the ballhog regularly missing 20 shots in a game, never passes to big men shooting 55%-60%, takes every single shot the last 4 minutes of a close game so he occasionally makes the winnning shot and espn shows it 40 times making people believe he is great but they don't show all the games he single handidly cost the team doing this. Pretty clear after the 4th quarter of last years game 7 how FIXED the league and its bed buddies espn and tbs is.
Just imagine how epic great HE would be if the TEAM actually won more when it counted. He might even surpass tim tebow as the greatest of all time before its happened award.
The whole Manning family is doped. His father started the spread steroids in football.

I laughed at this a little.

Ever see his "protection problems" rant? I believe you would think differently if you saw it.
I am happy to see the Colts lose so we don't have to listen to everyone and their mother suck Peyton off all god damn day. We get it, he's good. Shut the f*** up and talk about the game, not how great Peyton is.

I laughed at this a bit, too. Kobe may be one of the best players ever, but he is not recognized as even a good leader, let alone great. He's constantly getting into squabbles with his teammates and coaches and comes off as a bit of a prima donna. When it hits the fan at the end of the game, Kobe seems to become a one man show rather than a field marshal.
Peyton is a great QB on an average team, much different if Clark and Collie are healthy. The run game is probably near the bottom of the league, especially if your depending on Addai who had a few decent years (product of the system/team at the time). Kudos to the Jets for keeping Peyton and the offense off the field and not allowing them to get into sync. Peyton was making Garcon look like a pro-bowler (can anyone name where Garcon played college ball?) But again this is Lets Run, so always haters. All that money spent on the Jets defense finally showed up as well, you want to talk bad QB, how about Sanchez? If he wasnt able to pick up those big first downs with his young legs and ugly flips it would have been a different game for sure.
Limited physical ability. Studying opponents only gets you so far. Needs to do fewer commercials, and work on his QB skills.

No, you can't remember that, because it never happened. It went like this: Colts score touchdown and 2pt conversion to make it 21-18 Steelers, Steelers drive for a bit and have to punt, Manning sacked on 4th and 16 on his own 2, Bettis fumbles, Roethlisberger makes a season-saving tackle, Colts try to drive and take a couple shots into the end zone, and attempt a field goal from 47 to try to tie it (notice this is as close as the score ever got), the most accurate kicker in NFL history Vanderjacks it wide right (this was in the dome, too), Steelers win and they're on their way. The Colts never had a chance to attempt a game-winning field goal.
