0:26:15 over a snowy XC course with guys in front like Mo Farah and Galen Rupp. Bobby finished just in front of Scotty. Good job home-boy!

Is Bobby Mack the successor to Max King - a runner with no track credentials who can nevertheless compete with the top US runners in XC?
For once we agree on something. Bobby is the USATF 10k Trail Champion too.
Good job Bobby!

13:39 isn't "no track credentials."
WINSTON-SALEM in the house!
Didn't Bobby Mack shoot Biggie Smalls or something something.
The next Brian Sell?

On the other hand, kids in high school can and have run faster... (just not many in the USA)

So? It's still a good time, especially if he isn't focusing all of his energies on track.

I don't disagree, and I wasn't trying to take anything away from him. 13:39 is still solid, just not something that is going to be noticed on the international professional stage, even taking out the myriad Africans.
Yeah, things are changing and 13:39 puts you very far back on the US PRs list now-a-days. You might not even be top 10 in the NCAA with a 13:39 anymore. Times are changing and 13:30 just isnt that competitive anymore. we are gonna see a lot of 13:05-13:25 Americans not making team USA in the 5k the next 2 years
I meant it to his credit. As someone with little speed who loves XC, I like to see "true" cross runners who can hang with the best track runners on tough courses.

I agree, but he has decent speed. I think he has run 4:01 indoors.

That was David Mack, ran 1:43 for 800m in the 80s.
Bobby's a good dude and did run 4:00.x at some meet in TN last year. Talk to him and you'll see a guy that is pumped about the future. Hats off!

Again, this isn't 1987.

I don't get it, what's your point? Does it make you feel better that you'll never make it on the Turkey Trot stage?
The guy has kept plugging away after 2-3 years of injuries. Always tough as nails in cross, I'm sure he'll approach 13:30/28:00 if he gets in one of the Stanford Time Trial fests.
Congrats Bobby!!!
Make that 6 - 7 years of interrupted training due to injuries. Guy never ran a full season in College
he'll go 27:45 on the track this year if he stays injury free, what great progress over the past year or so
