That's how it should be for the best country on Earth. Now all we need is for the talent to extend to the other events like the Steeple and Marathon.
1:45, 3:32, 12:59, sub-8:19 perhaps, and 2:08:34 perhaps?
This is definitely the kind of thing we need -- goal times that will encourage improvement at the Olympic competitive level instead of goal times lenient enough to just max fill a team.
People will make the team who have not run 3:32 or 12:59. And certainly 8:19 as the other poster said.
No, people who don't have the ability to run 3:32 or 12:59 will not make the 1500 or 5k team. Maybe the steeple or 10k. Who can realistically beat a healthy Teg, Lagat, or Solinsky in the 5k? Who else can make the 1500 team besides Webb, Wheating, Manzano, Lomong, or Torrence (who may be 3:32 this year)?
Link to other post??
Doesn't mean they will run that when it counts, either.
1:45 is not in the same league as 12:59. Go back to the '84 Trials and see what the fourth-place finisher had and compare that with the 1984 WR in the 5000.
African domination can't last for ever.

So you predict Teg, Lagat and Solinsky in the 5k? I would be very surprised if that is the exact team. Same with 1500, I wouldn't be at all surprised if one of the members is not one of those 5.
In 2009 Dorian Ulrey and Evan Jager were 3rd placers.
In 2008 Ian Dobson made the 5k team.
Things don't go according to plan. Someone will surprise.
