They also already kinda have these things with the cameras that run on the straightaways to capture those shots they have where the camera is going the same speed as the runner.

Dog racing is cruel and inhuman treatment to dogs, and betting on it on top of that is morally wrong as well. Do you know how many dogs are put down early in their lives for having too many bad races in a row? It's a terrible awful practice. What are you, a Michael Vick fan?

I've had a similar thought before. Think it would be great if you could set it to run an even paced 15:00 5K, for example.

They have those world record lines in the pool for the swimmers, why can't they do something similar for runners on a track?

The professional track league post above is referring to the fact that such an animal existed in the 70's. From what I heard the pace of the pacing device would actually go exactly on split. For example, if the 800 were being run, it would hit each 200 in about 26 (in the 70's). That being the case the entire field would be well ahead of the beeping light at 200 and 400, but my friend told me that by the last 100m the beeping light would seemingly "fly by" as the runners labored to finish.
