What happens after a team wins a world championship with five third-period goals that crush the will to live from Team Canada? There's the requisite celebration, of course. And then everybody gets kicked off the flight home for being intoxicated.
After winning gold with the greatest comeback in the history of the World Junior Hockey championships, Team Russia was kicked off a Delta flight as it was boarding at the Buffalo airport. Airport spokesman C. Douglas Hartmayer estimated that about 32 members of the traveling party -- heavy emphasis on party -- were left behind when the plane departed for Atlanta.
Tough to blame the kids, who'd won Russia's first gold medal since 2003. They'll get home somehow.
