On ESPN's PTI, they asked who was to blame for going off course in this race, the photo truck or the runner. What do you think?

the event (course marshalls, photo truck) could have done a better job avoiding it from happening. The truck definitely should have sped way up ahead of time so the runners wouldn't be latched onto the back of it as it turned. Then, with a larger gap, the marshalls would have been more effective directing the runners.
Ultimately though, it's up to the runner to know where he's going. In a long race it's tough to know the entire course, but you better damn well know where you're going the last mile or so.
I believe that was an Ekiden race right? I watched three segments on ESPN about it Sports Nation (and that tool Colin Cowherd) called it a marathon. Around the Horn called it an Marathon relay, and PTI most correctly called it the 20k leg of a relay but didn't mention the word Ekiden.
Tough call. Leader should know wherethe finish line is, but also was sprinting and probably near death so just followed the truck without thinking.
