Excellent! However, I would just sprint the straights and jog the turns, in the outside lane to allow for plenty of recovery. You will be sprinting no more than about 120 yards and getting plenty of recovery which means that you most likely not be running anaerobically. Therefore, you could even lengthen the workout to up to an hour, including the long warm up and cool down. You will get a terrific speed workout as well as an endurance workout all in one package. If you have the mileage base, I dont see why you couldnt do this every day in addition to whatever other run you do.
The 8X200 idea will get you into anaerobic territory and will necessarily mean a shorter workout and one which is not as beneficial as the one I am proposing.
Thanks for the advice. I went back to the track the day after I did my first 8x200 and was only able to do 2 mile warm up, 2x200 then 7 miles easy then 4x200, then jogged to get to 15 miles.( I skipped my earlier run so I tried to get the speedwork in with the 15 mile run) So I think 8x200 might be too much. I like what you propose about the 100 sprint with ~130 jog recovery. I may actually do the sprinting in the grass beside the track.
